Welcome back and Happy New Year!

Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas break with your families. The island air treated me well. There was no snow at all for Christmas time which I have never seen. I even went for a walk on the beach! I am glad to be back and start this new year! I also wanted to thank you all for the nice gifts that you and your family gave me. I loved everyone of them.

This week in class we are getting back into the routine of things. The class rules tend to be forgotten so we are reviewing those as we go. This months theme is Fun in winter. The students will be learning all about winter activities and sports. We are learning about the different names for articles of clothing. We have started weekly messages. This is a great tool to help teach the students new words or proper sentence structures. They love when I mix up the sentences and they have to put them back in the right order. This is something you can do at home. Take a sentence from one of their books copy it out, then cut out each individual word and mix it up. Have your child put the sentence together and say each word as they go along. This helps them train their ears for  proper French sentence structure.

In Math, we are looking at subtraction and addition of numbers up to 12 as well as learning how to skip count by 2,5 and 10.

In Science, we are still working on our five senses and have been learning about the challenges blind and deaf people face. We have watched a couple of videos that I will post if you are interested in watching and sparking up a conversation with your child.

In Social Studies, we continue to learn about the difference between a province and a country. The students are learning about the different provinces and territories that make up Canada. We will also learn how to read a map by using North, South, East and West.

A reminder that reading packages are to be returned every Monday. Our class along with Mme Janice's class will be doing this months liturgy, which will be January 26th I believe.
That's all for this week nothing much.

I forgot to let you all know that we got 74 Turkeys for the drop in center!!!! Thank you all for your support and helping us make this happen.

Here are some pictures from before Christmas.
